Social distancing policy

We want to reassure you as much as possible that we are doing everything in our power to input Social Distancing Measures across every aspect of what we do here at The Original Hut Company.

We’ve been working hard here at The Original Hut HQ! As I’m sure you are all aware,
we very rarely allow anything to stop us doing what we love; giving you the place to
create unforgettable memories. Now more than ever, we feel so lucky to be in the
place that we are; on a 180-acre family run farm in the East Sussex village of Bodiam.
Being within an hour and a half’s drive or train journey from London and Brighton, we
are the perfect escape from the city.

We wanted to try and briefly explain the measures we are putting in place to allow
social distancing:

Camping
• We will be opening two extra fields beside the river allowing us to create
spacious pitches that are 18 meters wide.
• One person at a time is allowed in a toilet/shower, the only exception is parent
and child. All children must be accompanied by an adult at all times.
• Hand sanitisers have been put on the outside of the toilet blocks & must be
used on entering and exciting the block. There will also be antibacterial sprays
in the cubicles, these are to be used by yourselves.
• We will deep clean the toilets in the morning, throughout the day, and when
possible, in the evening – they will be closed whilst this happens.
• To allow for social distancing and you will be allowed to park next to your tent.
• We will allow campfires and BBQ’s and continue to asses Health & Safety risks
with the local fire brigade accordingly.

Shepherd Huts
• Each unit is several meters away from the next, with each having their own
outside space.
• One person at a time is allowed in a toilet/shower, the only exception is parent
and child.
• All children must be accompanied by an adult at all times.
• Hand sanitisers have been put on the outside of the toilet doors & must be
used on entering and exciting the block. There will also be antibacterial sprays
in the cubicles, these are to be used by yourselves.
• We will deep clean the toilets in the morning, throughout the day, and when
possible, in the evening.
• The showers will have a schedule of use.
• All cleaning will be done in line with the government COVID-19 Guidelines.
• To help us protect our staff, we would expect guests to double bag waste and
remove them from the unit, bins will be provided. We will supply a black bag for
used bedding at the end of your stay.

For the foreseeable future these will be the rules and if everyone wishes to use our
facilities we really hope that you can appreciate and stick to these guidelines, if
however, people abuse these necessary rules, we will shut it down and you will be
asked to provide your own sanitation units when you book a pitch.
Our onsite licensed Café will be allowed to open with everything
takeaway. We will, however, provide seating. As we pride ourselves in being the
meeting place for local produce, we will also have a selection of food hampers
available for pre-order. We have reared our own pigs and chickens and have spent the
lockdown time invested in our own veggie patches. Luckily with our license we’ll also
be able to provide you with a selection of local beers, ciders and wines too!

Should you feel ill, are showing signs of the virus or live in the same household as
someone with the virus, please do not attend our facility. For guest that are at greater
risk or are medically vulnerable please be extra cautious.
Where a guest is unable to check out due to Covid-19 symptoms, guidance will be
provided.
